IIBA Academic Business Analysis Certificate and Diploma at University of Tartu
Since June 2017, University of Tartu is member of the Academic Recognition Program of the International Institute of Business Analysts (IIBA). IIBA is a non-profit professional association formed with the mission of supporting and promoting the discipline of business analysis. It currently has close to 30000 members worldwide and is responsible for developing and maintaining the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK) as well as several certification programs.
The IIBA membership allows University of Tartu to award the IIBA Academic Diploma and the IIBA Academic Certificate in Business Analysis to its students.
The IIBA Academic Diploma is a formal recognition that the recipient has completed a formal study program in Business Analysis covering the IIBA Body of Knowledge comprehensively, and that the participant has practiced the skills gained in this study program in an organization.
The IIBA Academic Certificate is a formal recognition that the recipient has acquired foundational knowledge in business analysis covering the core concepts and methods of the IIBA Body of Knowledge.
Criteria for IIBA Academic Diploma in Business Analysis
In order to be awarded the Academic Diploma, a student enrolled at University of Tartu must complete at least the following courses offered by the Institute of Computer Science:
- Business Analysis (6 ECTS)
- Business Process Management (6 ECTS)
- Software Product Management (6 ECTS)
- Requirement Engineering (6 ECTS)
- Business Data Analytics (6 ECTS)
The student must pass each of the above courses with a grade of C or higher. The order in which courses are taken does not matter.
In addition to completing these courses, the student is required to gain practical business analysis experience via an internship or a job. The student must have obtained at least 12 ECTS for this internship or work from the University.
The IIBA Academic Diploma can be requested by any student of the University of Tartu (full-time, part-time, open university or external) who fulfils the above criteria, regardless of the Institute or Faculty in which the student is enrolled.
Criteria for IIBA Academic Certificate in Business Analysis
To be awarded the Academic Certificate, a student must take at least the following courses offered by the Institute of Computer Science.
- Business Analysis (6 ECTS)
- Requirements Engineering (6 ECTS)
The students must pass each of these courses with a grade of C or higher. The order in which courses are taken does not matter.
The IIBA Academic Certificate can be requested by any student of the University of Tartu (full-time, part-time, open university or external) who fulfils the above criteria, regardless of the Institute or Faculty in which the student is enrolled.
Application Procedure and Fee
Students can apply for the Academic Diploma or the Academic Certificate once they have completed all the corresponding criteria. The student should make their application at most six months after having achieved the requirements for the Academic Certificate or Diploma. The succesful completion of the last required course (of certificate or diploma) must be completed after 1st of September 2017. The order in which the courses are taken does not matter.
The application should be made by filling the application form below to the secretariat of the Institute of Computer Science . If the student is eligible, the secretariat will ask the applicant to pay an administration fee to cover expenses that the university incurs in relation to maintaining its accreditation with IIBA. Students can apply for the certificate or Diploma three times a year. Deadlines for 2019:
- February 10, 2019
- June 30, 2019
- September 29, 2019
The administration fee as of 1 September 2017 is:
- 100 euros + VAT for the Academic Certificate
- 200 euros + VAT for the Academic Diploma.
